An Award Winning Approach to Programme Management
The Interim Manager of the Year 2007 Awards, sponsored by Praxis Executive, were held on Friday 21 September at the Landmark Hotel in London, and Graham Thomson, Accelerant Ltd's Managing Director, was named 'Programme Management Interim Manager of the Year.
Each year 3000 companies from across the UK are invited to nominate interim managers who have made an outstanding contribution to their businesses.
Graham was nominated by Simon Godsave, Compliance Director of Zurich Assurance Ltd, for his outstanding work on their Treating Customers Fairly programme.
Simon said,
"Graham has integrated effectively within Zurich and has made an effective overall contribution to Zurich Life's TCF initiative.
He has established and sustained a change programme and in particular has overcome some concerns that existed over the programme during the period before his engagement.
In addition, Zurich UK's General Insurance business unit has recognised Graham's skills and value by engaging him on support for their own equivalent TCF initiative.

Service Offering: CRM Programme Management
CRM Programme Manager at this global leader in managed email security
services. This programme was set up to deliver a step-change in
MessageLabs' capabilities to develop, manage and maintain valuable
business relationships with their Partners and Customers. Managing
a virtual team of 30+ personnel, this role involved gathering business
requirements, constructing the CRM business case, identifying and
evaluating suitable software vendors for a full suite (Sales, Marketing
& Customer Services) CRM implementation , developing and managing
the RFI and RFP processes, managing relationships with vendors ,
systems integrators and key stakeholders throughout MessageLabs'
global operations.
Service Offering: Business Transformation/ Process Improvement
Programme Manager on a major business transformation project for
this Top10 provider of Learning and Development solutions. The project
entitled "Excellence from Engagement to Solution" involved redefining
core processes, systems and skills in order to fully support the
company's move into consultancy based value-added services. Achievements
included redefining core processes based on "Voice of the Customer"
satisfaction interviews, the selection and implementation of a new
Time and Expenses system and the definition of a new Engagement
model for the business.

Interim Programme Manager for a major Improvement Programme designed
to take this local authority from a "Weak" to an "Excellent "Council
by 2006 (according to CPA ratings). The programme comprised of some
38 separate projects covering service delivery areas such as Schools,
Community Services, Sustainability, Public Protection and Children
& Families. Achievements included setting up the Council's Programme
Management Office, re-structuring the programme governance (steering
group), redesigning the existing project management methodology
(based on Prince 2) and developing a training programme that was
rolled out to project managers across the council.

Capsugel France a division of Pfizer Inc, offers a range of pharmaceutical
soft gelatin encapsulation services from their manufacturing plant
in France. Accelerant conducted two market research studies for
this multinational pharmaceutical manufacturer involving extensive
field research in the UK, Scandinavia, Middle East and Africa. Data
sources included both field and desk research together with in-depth
interviews of key players in the market place. Findings from these
well received studies enabled Capsugel to finalise their market
entry strategies for a number of potentially high value territories.

Programme Manager, leading a multi-functional team of 40, on a large-scale
CRM implementation at this national economic development agency.
Objectives of the programme centred on delivering greater value
to the Scottish business community by transforming the ways in which
SE dealt with its customers. The programme involved redesigning
the organisational structure, transforming account management and
marketing processes and implementing best of breed CRM packages
to replace outdated bespoke software. (Project conducted with Deloitte
& Touché)

over 30 staff, on the successful re-launch of one of the UK's largest
customer loyalty schemes. Through a multi-channel approach (call
centres, web, retail stores, and press), we successfully transferred
5 million customers into the new loyalty programme. The re-launch
served as a means to gather valuable customer data and to offer

European e-Marketing Project Manager on a high profile, Pan-European
e-commerce programme. Role involved re-defining the organisation's
business model, moving from traditional product push through retail
channels towards one-to-one customer relationship management. From
a fragmented internet presence with 14 stand-alone country sites,
a common European consumer e-Marketing platform and Small Dealers
extranet were successfully built. (Project conducted with PricewaterhouseCoopers)
Service Offering: Cost reduction/ Business Transformation
Successfully fulfilled 3 roles over a 15-month period on a major
business transformation / cost reduction programme at Europe's largest
credit card company. In the face of low cost US credit card operators
entering the UK market, this programme was set up to radically reduce
costs and transform the way in which Barclaycard dealt with its
